Details :- HE150 exploded in the air at Monchengladbach after being hit by Anti-Aircraft defences. | |||||||
Raid by 783 aircraft which included 143 Wellington's of which 10 were lost including HE150 and HE154 both 466 squadron aircraft. | |||||||
All were orginally buried in the City Cemetery at Monchengladbach, since 1947 five have been transferred to the Rheinberg War Cemetery but Sgt Herbert's remains could not be identified and so is perpetuated on the Runnymede Memorial. | |||||||
Bomb load on-board HE150 was 2 x 500lb GP, 4 SBC 8 x 30 and 3 x SBC 19 x 4 and 750 gallons of fuel for 7 - 8hrs of flying. | |||||||
