Details :- Shortly after bombing HX233 was attacked by a night-fighter at 19,000ft and was partially abandoned. The aircraft coming down at Hirschfelde, Germany (approx 18 miles North-East of Berlin) after exploding in the air. | ||||||||
677 aircraft including 241 Halifax detailed on the mission, 26 Halifax aircraft were lost including HX233, HX294 and HX345 from 466 Squadron. | ||||||||
Those of the crew who died are buried in the Berlin 1939 - 1945 War Cemetery. | ||||||||
