  Details :- HX273 was shot down by a night-fighter . With the aircraft difficult to control F/S Edwards managed to hold the aircraft steady enough for the rest of the crew to parachute out. The plane crashed near the village of Beltershausen in Germany.  
                 
  650 aircraft including 257 Halifax detailed to take part in this raid, 27 Halifax aircraft were lost including HX236 and HX273 from 466 Squadron.  
     
  Some wreckage of HX273 exists in a private collection in Germany.  
     
  F/S Edwards is buried in the Hannover War Cemetery.  
     
  F/S Parsons - PoW number is 269796, he was in camp 4B.  
  F/S Brett - PoW number is 267437, he was in camp 4B.  
  F/O Loane - PoW number is 3263, he was in camp L3.  
  Sgt Hall - PoW number is 267451, he was in camp 4B.  
  F/S Cahir - PoW number is 267500, he was in camp 4B.  
  Sgt Spalding - PoW number is 267580, he was in camp 4B.
