  Details :- HX312 was shot down by a night-fighter and crashed after losing the Port side wing and spiralling vertically down at De Lutte (Overijssel) a village on the Dutch - German border, 4km East South East from Oldenzaal.  
     
  648 aircraft detailed for the mission with 35 Halifax aircraft being lost.  
             
             
             
  Those of the crew who died are buried in Losser (De Lutte) Roman Catholic Cemetery.  
             
  F/S Dobson - PoW number 1054, he was in camps L6/L4.      
  F/S Doust - PoW number 966, he was in camps L6/L4.      
             
  J K Thompson survived the crash trapped in the rear turret but died from his injuries shortly after.
