| Details :- HX273 was shot down by a night-fighter . With the aircraft difficult to control F/S Edwards managed to hold the aircraft steady enough for the rest of the crew to parachute out. The plane crashed near the village of Beltershausen in Germany. | ||||||||
| 650 aircraft including 257 Halifax detailed to take part in this raid, 27 Halifax aircraft were lost including HX236 and HX273 from 466 Squadron. | ||||||||
| Some wreckage of HX273 exists in a private collection in Germany. | ||||||||
| F/S Edwards is buried in the Hannover War Cemetery. | ||||||||
